Many thanks to everyone who came to our luncheon and generously donated money for the benefit of the children's orphanage in Ukraine!

Children and youth of our parish worked very hard to organize this luncheon and collected a total of $2430, all of which will be sent to the orphanage soon.

Again we have been accounted worthy to live to see the great feast of the Nativity of Christ. The Lord came to us through the immaculate Virgin, He “appeared on earth and dwelt among men,” as the Prophet Baruch foretold (3:38); and after him the Prophet Haggai revealed to the people that He Whom all nations were awaiting would come to the temple of Jerusalem (2: 7).

Please pray for the repose of the newly departed Michael. Michael Kozlovski, the father-in-law of our rector Fr. Stelian, fell asleep in the Lord on Sunday evening, September 4. The funeral of the servant of God Michael will be on September 8th at Christ the Saviour church in London Ontario. May the Lord give rest to the soul of the newly departed servant of God Michael.

Dress rehearsal for yolka at 10:30. All children wishing to perform at the yolka MUST attend.

Sunday, January 16th:

On January 9th there will be a Nativity potluck lunch (there will be no lunch January 7th). Everyone in the parish is encouraged to sign-up and bring something! You don’t have to be a member of the sisterhood to participate.

All food must be brought ready to serve or heated up by whoever is contributing it.

Please remember to wash and take home your dish at the end of the meal!

K.N. Dermid fell asleep in the Lord

Konstantine Nicholaevitch Dermid fell asleep in the Lord today. He was a great supporter of our parish and will be greatly missed.

There will be a panikhida on Tuesday at 6 pm, and the funeral service will be on Wedensday at 11 am. May God rest his soul.

His Grace, Bishop Gabriel visited the Parish of the Memorial Church of the Protection of the Holy Virgin from Friday March 12th to Sunday the 14th. On Friday evening about 95 people attended the service of Holy Unction.

On Sunday, after the Divine Liturgy, the children and youth of the parish hosted their 5th Annual Benefit Dinner for Poor and Underprivileged Children.

G.N.Pjawka fell asleep in the Lord

On February 17th at 8:30am our Mr. Gregory N. Pjawka (father of Zhenya Pjawka) passed away at the age of 89 years.

His remains will be brought to our church in London, ON on Friday after service at 1:00pm and a service for the departed will be served.

After Matins Friday evening at approx. 8:30pm will be a Panihida.

The Divine Liturgy for Saturday morning will served earlier then scheduled starting at 8:00am.

The Funeral service will follow starting at approx. 9:45am.

After interment at Woodland Cemetery there will be a remembrance meal in the rectory.

Visit by Pochaev icon of the Mother of God

The great treasure of the Orthodox world - the Pochaev icon of the Mother of God from Pochaev Lavra in Ukraine - is coming to our city.

Its veneration in Ottawa will take place at the Annunciation Cathedral (OCA) at 15 Lebreton Street North.

Everyone is invited to come for the Akathist to the icon on October 1st at 6:30 pm. The full itinerary of icon's visits in Canada can be found here.

Tonight at 6:30pm there will be a panikhida in the church.

Tomorrow (Thursday) there will be visitation at McEvoy Sheilds funeral home (1411 Hunt Club Road; (613) 737-7900) from 7pm to 9pm. A panikhida will be served at 7pm.

The funeral service will be Friday morning at 10am at the church.
